Pulled Pork

Sandwich Assembly

Method

Pulled Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.

  2. 2

    Sear the Pork

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned pork shoulder and sear on all sides until browned (about 5 minutes per side).

  3. 3

    Slow Cook the Pork

Transfer the seared pork to a slow cooker. Add chicken broth and apple cider vinegar. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and shreds easily with a fork.

  4. 4

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker to soak up the juices.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the Baguette

Slice the baguette in half lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through.

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

Spread mustard on both sides of the baguette. Layer on the deli ham, followed by the pulled pork, Swiss cheese, and pickle slices.

  3. 7

    Toast the Sandwich

If desired, place the assembled sandwich on a panini press or grill until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy (about 3-5 minutes).

  4. 8

    Serve

Cut the sandwich into smaller portions if desired, and serve warm.
