Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Vegetables

Thinly slice the bell peppers and onion. Set aside.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Cook the Vegetables

In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are softened and slightly caramelized. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  2. 3

    Cook the Steak

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil and increase the heat to medium-high. Add the shaved steak and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the steak is browned and cooked through.

  3. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet with the cooked steak. Mix everything together and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through.

  4. 5

    Add Cheese

Lay the American cheese slices over the steak and vegetable mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid for a minute to allow the cheese to melt.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Baguette

Slice the fresh baguette lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Open it up and lightly toast it if desired.

  2. 7

    Fill the Baguette

Spoon the cheesy steak and vegetable mixture into the baguette. Press down gently to pack it in.

  3. 8

    Serve

Cut the filled baguette into portions and serve warm.
