Method

Prepare the Patty

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form into two equal patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Grill the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 4

    Caramelize the Onions

Slice the medium onion thinly. In a skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the onions and cook slowly until they are golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 5

    Sauté the Mushrooms

Slice the mushrooms. In the same skillet, add a little more oil and sauté the mushrooms for about 5-7 minutes until tender.

  3. 6

    Prepare Vegetables

Wash and slice the tomato into thick slices. Tear the lettuce leaves from the head.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, followed by the cooked burger patty with melted Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, tomato slices, and pickles. Drizzle steakhouse sauce on top, then place the top half of the bun.
