Method

Preparing the Maple Dijon Aioli

  1. 1

    Mix the Aioli Ingredients

In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, maple syrup, minced garlic, and lemon juice. Stir until smooth.

  2. 2

    Season the Aioli

Add salt and black pepper to taste and mix well. Set aside in the refrigerator to let flavors meld.

Cooking the Burgers

  1. 3

    Prepare the Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 4

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.

  3. 5

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes or until the cheese melts and the burgers reach desired doneness.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

If desired, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

Spread a generous amount of maple Dijon aioli on the bottom half of each bun. Add a lettuce leaf, cooked burger patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and a few apple slices.

  3. 8

    Finish the Burger

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
