Cheese and Toppings

Buns

Method

Prepare the Patties

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix until just combined, then divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty approximately 3/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place two slices of American cheese on each patty to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 4

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a layer of lettuce, followed by a patty with melted cheese, slices of tomato, and pickles. Add the second patty with cheese on top.

  3. 6

    Close the Burger

Top with the other half of the bun and press down gently to secure the layers.
