Method

Preparing Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Season the beef

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the patties

Divide the seasoned beef into 4 equal portions (for double patties) and shape them into burger patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the grill or skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip them.

  3. 5

    Add cheese

After flipping, place 2 slices of cheddar cheese on each patty and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the hamburger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster, if desired.

  2. 7

    Layer the toppings

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, a cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, pickles, onion, and a dollop of ketchup and mustard.

  3. 8

    Complete the burger

Top each assembled burger with the upper half of the bun. Press down gently to secure all ingredients.
