Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Baguette

Cut the fresh baguette in half lengthwise to create two long pieces. If preferred, you can also slice it into individual sandwich-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Tomatoes

Wash the ripe tomatoes thoroughly under running water. Slice them into even rounds, about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Slice the Mozzarella

Take the fresh mozzarella and slice it into rounds, similar in thickness to the tomatoes.

  4. 4

    Wash the Basil

Rinse the fresh basil leaves under cold water and gently pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Spread the Pesto

Take one half of the baguette and spread the pesto sauce evenly over the cut surface.

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

On top of the pesto, layer the sliced mozzarella, followed by the sliced tomatoes, and finally the fresh basil leaves.

  3. 7

    Drizzle Balsamic Glaze

Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the assembled ingredients, adding more or less to your taste.

  4. 8

    Close the Sandwich

If you have sliced the baguette into individual pieces, place the other half on top of each sandwich. If left whole, close the baguette.

  5. 9

    Serve

Cut the baguette into serving sizes if needed and serve immediately while fresh.
