Method

Pasta

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Bacon

  1. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon strips until crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess fat. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces.

Cheese Sauce

  1. 3

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In the same skillet used for bacon, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until golden.

  2. 4

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook, whisking frequently, until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes).

  3. 5

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth and creamy.

Combine

  1. 6

    Mix Everything Together

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, cheese sauce, and crumbled bacon. Mix well until the macaroni is evenly coated.

  2. 7

    Prepare for Baking

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the macaroni mixture into a greased baking dish.

  3. 8

    Add Topping

In a small bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the macaroni and cheese.

  4. 9

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

Serve

  1. 10

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your crispy bacon mac and cheese!
