Margherita Pizza
Method
Margherita Pizza Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Dough
Begin by preparing your pizza dough. If using store-bought dough, follow the package instructions. If making from scratch, combine flour, yeast, salt, and water, knead for about 10 minutes, then let it rise for 1 hour.
- 2
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) for at least 30 minutes to ensure it is hot enough to cook the pizza properly.
- 3
Roll Out the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness, typically about ¼ inch thick.
- 4
Add Tomato Sauce
Spread 1 cup of tomato sauce evenly over the rolled-out pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 5
Add Cheese
Tear the fresh mozzarella cheese into chunks and evenly distribute it over the sauce.
- 6
Season and Add Basil
Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the cheese. Tear fresh basil leaves and scatter them on top.
- 7
Drizzle with Olive Oil
Drizzle 2 tablespoons of olive oil over the pizza for added flavor.
- 8
Bake the Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 9
Cool and Serve
Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Slice and serve immediately.
