Method

Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven and Pans

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract together until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Then, slowly stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cakes

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the cakes to wire racks to cool completely.

  7. 7

    Assemble Layer Cake

Once cool, place one layer on a serving plate, spread frosting on top, add the second layer, repeat, and then top with the third layer. Frost the top and sides as desired.
