Method

Biscuit Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Biscuit Dough

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Butter and Milk

Cut the unsalted butter into small pieces and add it to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually stir in the milk until just combined.

  3. 3

    Shape the Biscuits

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently about 5-6 times. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle and cut out biscuits using a round cutter. Place on a baking sheet.

  4. 4

    Bake the Biscuits

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Remove and let cool slightly.

French Toast Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the French Toast Batter

In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

  2. 6

    Dip the Biscuits

Carefully dip each biscuit into the French toast batter, ensuring they are fully coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.

  3. 7

    Cook the Biscuits

In a skillet over medium heat, add a little butter. Once melted, place the dipped biscuits in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Final Assembly

  1. 8

    Cook the Bacon

In the same skillet, add the bacon slices and fry until crisp. Remove and set aside.

  2. 9

    Prepare the Potatoes

In a pot, boil the red skin potatoes until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  3. 10

    Assemble the Dish

On a plate, place one French toast biscuit, top it with a slice of Swiss cheese, add two slices of bacon, and a fried egg if desired. Serve with cooked red skin potatoes and maple syrup on the side.
