Method

Biscuit

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 0.5 teaspoon of salt.

  3. 3

    Cut in Butter

Cut in 0.5 cup of unsalted butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Milk

Pour in 0.75 cups of milk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Shape Biscuits

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat it out to about 1-inch thickness and cut out biscuits using a round cutter.

  6. 6

    Bake

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Sausage Gravy

  1. 7

    Cook Sausage

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook 1 pound of ground breakfast sausage until browned and no longer pink.

  2. 8

    Add Flour

Sprinkle 0.25 cups of all-purpose flour over the sausage. Stir to combine and cook for 1-2 minutes.

  3. 9

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Cook until the gravy thickens, approximately 5-7 minutes.

  4. 10

    Season the Gravy

Add 1 teaspoon of black pepper, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 0.25 teaspoon of red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.

Eggs

  1. 11

    Cook Eggs

In a small non-stick skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Crack 2 eggs into the skillet.

  2. 12

    Season and Cook

Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Cook until the whites are set and the yolk is cooked to your preference.

Red Skin Potatoes

  1. 13

    Prepare Potatoes

Wash and quarter 4 red skin potatoes.

  2. 14

    Season and Roast

Toss the potatoes with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, salt, and black pepper to taste. Spread them on a baking sheet and roast in the oven (you can do this while the biscuits are baking) for about 25-30 minutes or until golden and tender.
