Method
Cheesesteak Filling
- 1
Prepare the Beef
Thinly slice the beef steak against the grain into thin strips. This will help achieve a tender texture in the final dish.
- 2
Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and green bell peppers, and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are softened and slightly caramelized.
- 3
Cook the Beef
Add the sliced beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the beef is fully cooked and browned. Remove from heat.
House Cheese Sauce
- 4
- 5
Add Milk
Gradually pour in 1 cup of milk while whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Continue to cook until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
- 6
Incorporate Cheeses
Reduce heat to low. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and cream cheese until fully melted and smooth. Add garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix well and remove from heat.
Assemble the Philly
- 7
Prepare the Hoagie Rolls
Slice the hoagie rolls down the middle without cutting all the way through. This will create a pocket for the filling.
- 8
Fill the Rolls
Evenly distribute the cheesesteak filling into each hoagie roll. Pour the house cheese sauce generously over the top of the filling.
- 9
Add Additional Cheese
Sprinkle shredded cheddar jack cheese over each filled hoagie for extra cheesiness.
- 10
Melt the Cheese (Optional)
If desired, place the assembled hoagies under a broiler for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Watch closely to prevent burning.
