Cheese Sauce

Method

Cheese Sauce

  1. 1

    Melt the Cheese

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cheddar cheese, cream cheese, and milk. Stir continuously until the cheeses are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.

  2. 2

    Season the Sauce

Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to the melted cheese mixture. Stir well to combine and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Fresh Salsa

  1. 3

    Prepare the Salsa

In a medium bowl, combine diced tomatoes, red onion, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and jalapeño. Mix well and season with salt to taste. Set aside to let the flavors meld.

Assembling the Nachos

  1. 4

    Layer the Nachos

On a large serving platter, spread out a layer of tortilla chips.

  2. 5

    Add Cheese Sauce

Pour a generous amount of the cheese sauce over the tortilla chips, ensuring they are well covered.

  3. 6

    Add Optional Protein

If desired, sprinkle the cooked chicken or beef over the cheese-covered chips.

  4. 7

Top with Salsa and Sour Cream

Spoon the fresh salsa over the top, and add dollops of sour cream on the side.
