Fries

Parmesan Herb Topping (Optional)

Truffle Oil Drizzle (Optional)

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cutting the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thick strips, about 1/4 inch wide, to create hand-cut fries.

  2. 2

    Soaking the Fries

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This removes excess starch and helps make them crispier.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heating the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 4

    Frying the Fries

Drain and pat the fries dry with a paper towel. Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil and fry for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pot.

  3. 5

    Draining and Salting

Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle with salt and black pepper.

Optional Toppings

  1. 6

    Parmesan Herb Topping

If using, mix the grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, dried thyme, and garlic powder in a bowl. Sprinkle the mixture over the hot fries for added flavor.

  2. 7

    Truffle Oil Drizzle

If desired, drizzle truffle oil over the fries before serving for an extra gourmet touch.
