Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough starts to form.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine shredded Swiss cheese, diced ham, chopped spinach, minced garlic, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.

Assembling and Baking

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 8

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 12x18 inches.

  3. 9

    Add Filling

Spread the filling mixture evenly over the rolled dough.

  4. 10

    Roll and Cut

Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.

  5. 11

    Prepare for Baking

Place the cut pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  6. 12

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 13

    Serve

Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Swiss rolls!
