Preparation
- 1
Set Up Your Coffee Maker
Place the pour-over coffee maker on top of your coffee mug or carafe. Insert the coffee filter into the dripper.
- 2
Measure Coffee
Using a scale, measure out 0.5 cups of coarse ground coffee and add it to the filter in the pour-over coffee maker.
- 3
Boil Water
Fill your kettle with 16 ounces of filtered water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, let it cool for about 30 seconds to reach the optimal temperature (around 200°F or 93°C).
Brewing
- 4
Bloom the Coffee
Start the brewing process by pouring just enough hot water (about 30-50 ml) over the coffee grounds to saturate them. Allow the coffee to 'bloom' for about 30 seconds. This step releases carbon dioxide and enhances flavor.
- 5
Continue Brewing
After the bloom, slowly pour the remaining hot water over the coffee grounds in a circular motion, starting from the center and moving outward. Aim to finish pouring in about 2-3 minutes to ensure an even extraction.
- 6
Allow to Drip
Once all the water has been poured, allow the coffee to drip completely through the filter into your mug or carafe.
Serving
- 7
Enjoy Your Coffee
Once the dripping has stopped, carefully remove the pour-over coffee maker and discard the used coffee grounds. Enjoy your freshly brewed 16oz pour-over coffee as is, or customize it with milk, cream, or sweeteners to your liking.
