Salted Caramel Sauce

Method

Brownie Base

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together almond flour, cacao powder, coconut sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the melted coconut oil and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Prepare for Baking

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

  6. 6

    Bake the Brownies

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Brownies

Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Salted Caramel Sauce

  1. 8

    Prepare the Caramel Base

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, heavy cream, and unsalted butter.

  2. 9

    Cook the Caramel

Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil. Once boiling, stop stirring and let it boil for about 5 minutes.

  3. 10

    Add Salt and Vanilla

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in sea salt and vanilla extract. Allow the sauce to cool slightly.

  4. 11

    Serve

Drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the cooled brownies just before serving.
