Fried Cheese Planks
Method
Fried Cheese Planks
- 1
Prepare the Cheese
Slice the mozzarella cheese into planks approximately 1/2 inch thick. Pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

- 3
Bread the Cheese
Take a slice of mozzarella and coat it in flour, making sure to cover all sides. Shake off the excess flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well. Repeat with all cheese slices.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C). You can test if the oil is ready by dropping in a small piece of bread; it should sizzle immediately.
- 5
Fry the Cheese Planks
Carefully add the breaded mozzarella planks into the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 6
Serve
Serve the fried cheese planks hot with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
