Method

Preparation

1

Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.

3

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, melted butter, and honey until smooth.

4

Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the cheddar cheese and jalapeños.

5

Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6

Glaze

While the cornbread is baking, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and mix with 2 tablespoons of honey. Brush this mixture over the hot cornbread as soon as it comes out of the oven.

7

Cool and Serve

Allow the cornbread to cool slightly before cutting into squares and serving.
