Margarita Mix

Method

Prep

1

Rim the glass

Rub the lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass. Pour coarse salt onto a small plate and dip the rim into the salt to coat. Set the glass aside.

2

Fill a cocktail shaker with fresh ice (enough to chill and dilute properly).

Mixing

3

Combine and shake

Add blanco tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is well-chilled and slightly frosted.

4

Strain

Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice (if serving on the rocks) or leave it empty for a neat coupe. Double-strain the shaken margarita into the glass using a fine mesh strainer (to remove small ice shards and pulp).

Finishing

5

Float the reposado tequila

Gently pour 0.5 oz reposado tequila over the back of a bar spoon so it floats on top of the margarita, creating the 'Cadillac' float. Pour slowly and aim for an even, thin layer.

6

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
