Method
Bacon Jam
- 1
Cook the Bacon
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- 2
Sauté the Onions
In the same skillet, discard excess bacon fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Chop the cooked bacon and return it to the skillet with the onions. Add brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, black pepper, and salt. Stir to combine.
- 4
Simmer the Mixture
Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens to a jam-like consistency.
- 5
Cool and Store
Remove from heat and let cool. Transfer to a jar and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Whipped Cream Cheese
- 6
Blend the Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, heavy cream, garlic powder, and chopped chives.
- 7
Whip until Smooth
Using an electric mixer, whip the mixture on medium speed until it's light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- 8
Taste and Adjust
Taste the whipped cream cheese and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Crostini
- 9
Prepare the Baguette
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices.
- 10
Add Olive Oil
Lay the slices on a baking sheet and brush each slice with olive oil.
- 11
Toast the Crostini
Bake in the oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
