Pasta

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water.

Making Alfredo Sauce

  1. 3

    Melt the Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

  2. 4

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 5

    Pour in Cream

Slowly pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Allow it to simmer gently for about 5 minutes.

  4. 6

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and ground nutmeg. Mix until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.

  5. 7

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained penne pasta to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.

Serving

  1. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Serve the Penne Alfredo hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese on top, if desired.
