Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that the bread pudding will bake evenly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Bread

Cut the day-old bread into cubes (approximately 1-inch pieces) and place them in a large mixing bowl.

Mixing

  1. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  2. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes. Gently fold the bread into the mixture until all the pieces are well-coated. If using, fold in the raisins, chocolate chips, or nuts at this stage.

Baking

  1. 5

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Transfer the bread mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

  2. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Serving

  1. 7

    Cool and Serve

Allow the bread pudding to cool for a few minutes before serving. It can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature, optionally drizzled with a sauce or whipped cream.
