Prepare the Glass
Take a tall glass (preferably a highball or hurricane glass) and fill it with ice cubes.

Add Tequila
Pour 2 oz of tequila over the ice in the glass.

Add Orange Juice
Slowly pour 4 oz of orange juice into the glass over the tequila. To create a gradient effect, pour the juice gently over the back of a spoon or down the side of the glass.

Add Grenadine
Slowly pour 1 oz of grenadine syrup into the glass. It should sink to the bottom, creating a sunrise effect.

Garnish the drink with a slice of orange and a maraschino cherry on top.
