Plantains
Horseradish Cilantro Crema
Method
Plantains Preparation
- 1
Peel and Slice Plantains
Peel the ripe plantains by cutting off the ends and making a slit along the length. Remove the skin and slice the plantains diagonally into 1/2 inch thick pieces.
- 2
Heat Oil
In a large skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium heat until hot but not smoking.
- 3
Fry Plantains
Carefully add the sliced plantains to the hot oil in a single layer. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and caramelized. Avoid overcrowding the skillet; fry in batches if necessary.
- 4
Horseradish Cilantro Crema Preparation
- 5
Mix Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, prepared horseradish, chopped cilantro, lime juice, garlic powder, and salt.
- 6
Whisk Together
Whisk the mixture until smooth and well combined. Adjust the salt according to your taste.
- 7
Refrigerate
Cover the crema and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
