Filling Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew Espresso

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and allow it to cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mix with Liqueur

In a shallow dish, combine the cooled espresso with coffee liqueur (if using). Set aside.

Making the Filling

  1. 3

    Whip Cream

In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

  2. 4

    Prepare Egg Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and creamy.

  3. 5

    Add Mascarpone

Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract into the egg yolk mixture until smooth.

  4. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.

Assembling Tiramisu

  1. 7

    Soak Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them too long to avoid sogginess.

  2. 8

    Layering

In a rectangular dish, place a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom, followed by half of the mascarpone filling. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining filling.

Chilling and Serving

  1. 9

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 10

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
