Prepare Pasta

Cook Lasagna Noodles
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt and the lasagna noodles. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Make Meat Sauce

Cook Ground Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 lb of ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Vegetables
Add 1 chopped medium onion and 3 minced garlic cloves to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Add Tomato Ingredients
Stir in 28 oz of crushed tomatoes, 2 tbs of tomato paste, 1 tsp of dried oregano, 1 tsp of dried basil, 1 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of black pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Prepare Cheese Mixture

Mix Cheese Ingredients
In a bowl, combine 15 oz of ricotta cheese, 1 large egg, 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 0.5 tsp of salt, 0.5 tsp of black pepper, and 2 tbs of chopped fresh parsley. Mix until well combined.
Assemble Lasagna

Layer Ingredients
In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, half of the meat sauce, and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles and the remaining meat sauce. Top with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.

Bake the Lasagna
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Once baked, allow the lasagna to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
