Pasta

Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Cheese Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Roux

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the all-purpose flour and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes until the mixture is bubbly and golden.

  2. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to prevent lumps. Continue to cook and whisk until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.

  3. 4

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until smooth.

Combine and Bake

  1. 5

    Combine Pasta and Cheese Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked elbow macaroni and the cheese sauce. Stir until the pasta is evenly coated.

  2. 6

    Prepare Topping

In a small bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, and melted butter until the mixture is well combined.

  3. 7

    Assemble the Dish

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the breadcrumb topping evenly over the top.

  4. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
