For the Chicken Wings

For Frying

For the Sauce (Optional)

Method

Preparing the Chicken Wings

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine the chicken wings and buttermilk. Make sure the wings are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for better flavor.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In another bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper thoroughly.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Egg Wash

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.

Frying the Chicken Wings

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Coat the Chicken Wings

Remove the marinated chicken wings from the refrigerator and let excess buttermilk drip off. Dip each wing first in the egg wash, then in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.

  3. 6

    Fry the Wings

Carefully place the coated wings in the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).

  4. 7

    Drain the Wings

Once cooked, remove the wings from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Preparing the Sauce (Optional)

  1. 8

    Make the Sauce

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the hot sauce and stir to combine. Remove from heat.

  2. 9

    Toss the Wings

If desired, toss the fried chicken wings in the prepared hot sauce mixture before serving.
