Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, and instant yeast until well combined.

  2. 2

    Heat Milk and Butter

In a small saucepan, heat the milk and unsalted butter over medium heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is warm (about 110°F or 43°C). Remove from heat.

Mixing and Kneading

  1. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the warm milk mixture and the egg. Mix together until a dough forms.

  2. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Rising

  1. 5

    First Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Shaping and Baking

  1. 6

    Shape the Rolls

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.

  2. 7

    Second Rise

Place the shaped rolls into a greased baking dish, cover again with a towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

  3. 8

    Preheat Oven

While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  4. 9

    Bake the Rolls

Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

  5. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove the rolls from the oven, let them cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
