Cake Ingredients

Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Beat Eggs and Sugar

In a large bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar with an electric mixer on high speed for about 5 minutes, until thick and pale.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, alternating with the milk and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Milk Mixture Preparation

  1. 7

    Mix the Milk Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk until well combined.

  2. 8

    Soak the Cake

Once the cake is completely cooled, poke holes all over the top of the cake with a fork. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Let the cake sit for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator.

Topping Preparation

  1. 9

    Whip the Cream

In a large bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

  2. 10

    Top the Cake

Spread the whipped cream over the soaked cake. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon and garnish with fresh fruit if desired.
