Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Stir gently and sprinkle active dry yeast over the top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the frothy yeast mixture along with olive oil. Mix until a dough starts to form.
- 3
Knead Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Assembly and Baking
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 6
Roll Out Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out to your desired thickness and shape.
- 7
Add Sauce and Toppings
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil over the base, then evenly spread the shredded mozzarella cheese, diced pineapple, and slices of prosciutto on top. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add fresh basil leaves on top.
- 8
Bake Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
- 9
Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Slice and serve hot, garnished with additional basil if desired.
