Potatoes

Method

Preparation of Potatoes

1

Wash and Peel the Potatoes

Thoroughly wash the Russet potatoes under cold water to remove any dirt. Peel the potatoes using a vegetable peeler.

2

Cut the Potatoes

Slice the peeled potatoes into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick. Rinse the cut potatoes in cold water to remove excess starch.

3

Soak the Potatoes

Place the sliced potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to achieve a crispy texture.

Cooking the Fries

4

Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5

Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

6

Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

7

Remove and Drain

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

8

Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss gently to coat.

Serving

9

Plate and Serve

Serve the fries hot as a side dish or a snack with your favorite dipping sauce.
