Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pasta

Add the fettucine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

Making the Alfredo Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 6

    Add Heavy Cream

Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.

  4. 7

    Incorporate Cheese

Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, gradually add the reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is reached.

  5. 8

    Season the Sauce

Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Remove from heat.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 9

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained fettucine to the Alfredo sauce in the skillet, tossing gently until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.

  2. 10

    Garnish

Serve immediately, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.
