Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare Chicken Breasts
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels, then season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Breading Setup
Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with grated Parmesan cheese.
- 3
Bread the Chicken
Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off the excess. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
Cooking
- 4
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Transfer the cooked chicken to a baking dish.
- 5
Add Toppings
Spoon marinara sauce evenly over each piece of chicken. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the marinara, and add fresh basil leaves.
- 6
Bake
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
Serving
- 7
Serve
Remove the chicken parmesan from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional fresh basil, if desired.
