Method
Preparing the Chicken
- 1
Season the Chicken
Begin by seasoning the boneless, skinless chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning on both sides.
- 2
Cook the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes.
- 3
Slice the Chicken
Once cooled slightly, slice the chicken breasts into thin strips.
Assembling the Panini
- 4
Prepare the Bread
Spread butter on one side of each slice of ciabatta bread.
- 5
Layer the Ingredients
On the unbuttered side of two slices of ciabatta, spread a layer of marinara sauce, followed by sliced chicken, shredded mozzarella cheese, and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and chopped basil.
- 6
Top the Panini
Place the other two slices of bread on top, buttered side facing out.
Grilling the Panini
- 7
Preheat the Grill
Preheat a panini press or grill pan over medium heat.
- 8
Grill the Panini
Place the assembled panini on the press or pan and cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- 9
Slice and Serve
Remove the panini from the grill, slice in half, and serve warm with extra marinara sauce on the side.
