Prepare the Breading
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

Heat the Oil
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).

Bread the Cheese Curds
Dip each cheese curd into the wet mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Then coat with the dry mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.

Fry the Cheese Curds
Carefully place the breaded cheese curds into the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Serve the garlic cheese curds hot with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.
