Beer Battered Onion Rings

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel and slice the onions into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).

  4. 4

    Batter the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.

  5. 5

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Chipotle Ranch

In a small bowl, mix the ranch dressing with chipotle powder to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the hot beer-battered onion rings with the chipotle ranch sauce on the side.
