Sorbet Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Juicing the Blood Oranges

Cut the blood oranges in half and juice them until you have about 2 cups of juice. Strain the juice to remove seeds and pulp if desired.

  2. 2

    Making the Syrup

In a saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let cool.

  3. 3

    Combining Ingredients

In a large bowl, mix the blood orange juice, cooled syrup, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to combine.

  4. 4

    Chilling the Mixture

Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until well chilled.

  5. 5

    Freezing the Sorbet

Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

  6. 6

    Final Freezing

Transfer the sorbet to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.

  7. 7

    Serving

Scoop the sorbet into bowls or cups and serve immediately.
