Method

Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dry Rub

In a bowl, mix together paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to make a dry rub.

  2. 2

    Season the Pork

Rub the dry mix all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Smoker

Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C). Use hickory or apple wood chips for a deep smoky flavor.

  4. 4

    Smoke the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder in the smoker. Mix the apple cider vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spritz the pork every hour. Smoke for about 6-8 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 195°F (90°C).

Brisket Preparation

  1. 5

    Season the Brisket

Generously rub the brisket with the brisket rub, covering all sides.

  2. 6

    Prepare for Smoking

Place the seasoned brisket in the smoker alongside the pork shoulder. Pour the beef broth into a drip pan underneath to keep the brisket moist.

  3. 7

    Smoke the Brisket

Smoke the brisket for about 4-5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 190°F (88°C).
