Falafel Ingredients

Method

Falafel Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak the Chickpeas

Place the dried chickpeas in a bowl and cover them with water. Allow them to soak overnight or for at least 8 hours.

  2. 2

    Blend the Ingredients

Drain and rinse the soaked chickpeas. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Process until a coarse mixture forms.

  3. 3

    Form the Falafel Balls

Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add flour. Mix well. Using your hands, form small balls (about the size of a golf ball) and place them on a parchment-lined tray.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Falafel

Carefully drop the falafel balls into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the falafel warm with tahini sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
