Pork Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Season the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, cumin, chili powder, and oregano. Rub the spices into the meat thoroughly.
- 2
Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- 3
Slow Cook the Pork
Transfer the seasoned pork shoulder to a slow cooker. Add the sautéed onion and garlic, chicken broth, and lime juice. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender.
- 4
Shred the Pork
Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir it in the juices.
Taco Assembly Instructions
- 5
Warm the Tortillas
In a dry skillet, warm the corn tortillas over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
- 6
Assemble the Tacos
Place a generous amount of shredded pork onto each tortilla. Top with fresh cilantro, diced red onion, avocado slices, and a dollop of sour cream.
- 7
Serve
Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.
