Method
Prepare Taco Shells
- 1
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- 2
Fry the Tortillas
Once the oil is hot, carefully add the corn tortillas one at a time. Fry them for about 30 seconds on each side until they are slightly crispy but still pliable.
- 3
Drain Excess Oil
Remove the tortillas from the skillet and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Prepare Filling
- 4
Cook the Meat
In the same skillet, add the ground beef or turkey over medium heat. Cook until browned, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes.
- 5
Add Seasoning
Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the cooked meat and mix well. Add a small amount of water (about 2-3 tablespoons) if the mixture is too dry. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until heated through.
- 6
Combine Cheeses
In a bowl, mix together the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
Assemble Tacos
- 7
Fill the Tacos
Take each tortilla and add a generous amount of the meat mixture, followed by a handful of the cheese blend.
- 8
Press the Tacos
Fold the tortillas over to create a taco shape. Press down gently to secure the shape.
Add Toppings
- 9
Top with Lettuce and Sour Cream
Add shredded lettuce on top of the cheese, followed by a dollop of sour cream.
- 10
Finish with Salsa
Finally, drizzle some salsa over the top for added flavor.
