Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

For Frying

Method

Prepare the Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Boil Water and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Heat over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil, stirring occasionally.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat and quickly stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes. Then, add 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  1. 4

    Mix Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.

Fry the Churros

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat 2 cups of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe the Dough

Transfer the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Once the oil is hot, pipe 4-6 inch lengths of dough directly into the hot oil.

  3. 7

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  4. 8

    Coat in Cinnamon Sugar

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
