Calamari
Spicy Dip
Method
Calamari Preparation
- 1
Clean the squid by removing the head, ink sac, and internal shell. Rinse under cold water and cut into rings.
- 2
In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Dredge the squid rings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- 4
In a deep pan or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- 5
Carefully add the coated squid rings to the hot oil, in batches if necessary, and fry for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- 6
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried squid from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Spicy Dip Preparation
- 7
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, lime juice, and garlic powder. Mix well until smooth.
- 8
Taste the dip and adjust the heat by adding more sriracha if desired.
- 9
Transfer the spicy dip to a serving bowl.
