Pasta Marinara Ingredients
Method
Pasta Marinara Directions
- 1
Cook the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, reserve a cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti and set it aside.
- 2
Prepare the Marinara Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- 3
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Pour in the canned whole tomatoes, breaking them up with a spoon. Stir in the dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 4
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Once the sauce has thickened slightly, add the cooked spaghetti into the skillet with the sauce. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time if the sauce seems too thick.
- 5
Finish with Fresh Basil
Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the fresh basil leaves. Toss again to distribute the basil throughout the pasta.
- 6
Serve
Plate the pasta and top with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve hot and enjoy your Pasta Marinara!
