Chocolate Ganache Topping

Method

Preparing the Batter

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and eggs until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.

Baking the Cake

  1. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  2. 6

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.

Preparing the Ganache

  1. 7

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.

  2. 8

    Melt Chocolate

Remove the saucepan from heat and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips to the hot cream. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.

Assembling the Cake

  1. 9

    Top with Ganache

Once the cake is completely cool, pour the chocolate ganache over the top, allowing it to drizzle down the sides.

  2. 10

    Serve

Let the ganache set for a few minutes before slicing the cake. Serve and enjoy!
