Method
Preparing Taco Shells
- 1
Fry Corn Tortillas
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Carefully add each corn tortilla, frying for about 30 seconds on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Keep warm.
Cooking Protein Filling
- 2
Prepare Ground Beef
In a separate skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat and add 1 tablespoon of taco seasoning. Stir well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- 3
Prepare Ground Chicken
In another skillet, cook the ground chicken over medium heat until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon of taco seasoning, mix, and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- 4
Prepare Brisket
In a pot, warm the shredded brisket over low heat. Mix in the remaining taco seasoning and a splash of water if necessary, stirring until heated through.
- 5
Prepare Carnitas
If using store-bought carnitas, simply heat them in a skillet over medium heat until warm. If using homemade, reheat as needed.
Assembling Tacos
- 6
Fill Tacos
Take a fried corn tortilla and layer with your choice of protein filling (beef, chicken, brisket, or carnitas).
- 7
Add Toppings
Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, sliced jalapeños, and chopped cilantro as desired.
- 8
Serve
Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.
