Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the fruits

Hull the strawberries and slice the banana into medium-sized pieces. If using fresh pineapple, cut it into chunks. If using canned pineapple, ensure it's drained well.

  2. 2

    Measure the liquids

Pour 1 cup of coconut water into a blender. This will serve as the liquid base for your smoothie.

  3. 3

    Gather the extras

If desired, measure out 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and set them aside for later addition to the smoothie.

Blending

  1. 4

    Combine ingredients in blender

In the blender, add the pineapple chunks, hulled strawberries, sliced banana, and coconut water. If you’re using honey as a sweetener, add it now.

  2. 5

    Blend until smooth

Blend the ingredients on high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy, about 30-60 seconds.

  3. 6

    Add chia seeds

Once blended, add the tablespoon of chia seeds to the smoothie and pulse the blender a few times to incorporate them without fully blending.

Serving

  1. 7

    Pour and enjoy

Pour the smoothie into a glass or two if sharing. You can garnish with a slice of banana or a strawberry on the rim of the glass for an attractive presentation.
